Iranian official urges end to crackdown in Bahrain

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has warned against the continuation of the military approach to the popular uprising in Bahrain, urging an end to the crackdown to resolve the impasse in the country.

According to Press TV, Amir-Abdollahian said on Wednesday: “Putting an end to the foreign military presence in Bahrain and national dialog are the most appropriate political strategies in the ongoing profound crisis in the country.”
He emphasized the significance of completing the trend of reform to resolve the standoff in the Persian Gulf kingdom.
The Iranian official blasted the use of lethal chemical gas against the Bahraini people who are pursuing their demands in a peaceful way.
He warned that the continuation of the military-security approach to the uprising in Bahrain is a mistake.
A popular uprising began in Bahrain in February 2011. Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates sent security and military forces to Bahrain upon a request from Manama to help the Bahraini government quash the peaceful protests.
