Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a meeting with Ghanaian Foreign Minister Hannah Tetteh called for increased cooperation between the Middle-Eastern and African nations to uproot terrorism and violence.

“If the Middle Eastern and African nations stand by each other, they can create an atmosphere to eliminate violence and terrorism,” Rouhani said during the meeting in Tehran on Wednesday.

Mock coalitions will be unable to counter the global problem, he said.

Economic growth in tandem with cultural development of African states and Middle-East and blocking the terrorists’ activities in financial areas as well as propaganda networks are among the major factors to prevent the spread of the evil phenomenon of terrorism.

Ghanaian foreign minister, for her part, referred to spread of terrorism in West Africa and activities of Boko Haram in Nigeria, and underlined the need for regional and mutual cooperation to uproot terrorism.

Tetteh voiced her country’s readiness for promoting ties with Iran in all fields, urging Iranian companies’ further involvement to carry out development projects in Ghana.

In relevant remarks earlier this month, President Rouhani asked the world states to join efforts to fight and uproot terrorism.

“Terrorism and insecurity is an epidemic disease which doesn’t belong to a special region, and efforts should be made to encounter extremism and violence to prevent its spread and we shouldn’t allow any innocent person, regardless of his/her nationality and religion, to become a victim of the terrorist groups,” Rouhani said in a meeting with Italian Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni in Tehran.

Stressing that after striking a nuclear agreement with the world powers, Iran now feels the heavy responsibility of establishment of peace and stability in the region, he said, “To achieve this important goal, it is necessary to uproot terrorism through collective cooperation.”

“The countries’ political and economic interests and creation of mental tranquility both depend on this universal determination,” Rouhani added.
