Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in separate meetings with the Lebanese and Omani parliament speakers underlined the necessity for the development of all-out bilateral ties, specially in economic fields.

President Rouhani held a meeting with Lebanese top legislator Nabih Berri in Tehran on Wednesday.

During the meeting, he warned that the Zionists benefit from differences and gaps in Lebanon, saying, “They thought that the can keep terrorism and the ISIL terrorists in the region for a long time.”

President Rouhani underscored the need for the expansion of economic, trade, political, regional and international relations between Tehran and Beirut, and said, “The Iranian government and nation have and will remain beside the Lebanese government and nation on the path of resistance against the Zionist regime’s aggression.”

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 13th Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states (PUIC).

Also, in a separate meeting with Omani Parliament Speaker Sheikh Khalid bin Hilal al-Mawali in Tehran on Wednesday, President Rouhani emphasized that enhancement of brotherly and all-out ties with the Islamic states, including Oman, is Iran’s serious agenda.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes activities of the Omani investors in the Free Zones of Chabahar, Jask and different economic sectors, specially in transit area,” he added.

In relevant remarks in 2017, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi underlined that no third country can hamper the friendly relations between Tehran and Muscat.

“Iran and Oman relations have been one of the good ones in the region and the efforts to harm the two countries’ ties have failed so far,” Qassemi said.

He reiterated that the senior Iranian and Omani officials exchange visits and have standing contacts about bilateral and international issues, when necessary.

“Each trip has a message and can be an emphasis on the friendship between Iran and Oman,” Qassemi added.

He underlined that Oman is an independent country and determines its own policies.
