A1134024

Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani underlined Iran and Tunisia’s historical and cultural commonalities, and urged further cooperation between the two countries’ parliaments.

Larijani in a message to Speaker of Tunisian National Constituent Assembly Mustapha Ben Jaafar voiced the parliament’s readiness for exchange of parliamentary delegations between the two countries.

He felicitated the Tunisian government and nation as well as his counterpart on the country’s Independence Day.

Larijani also hoped that the parliamentary cooperation between the two Muslim states would further improve in all fields given their historical and cultural commonalities.

He also wished Bin Jaafar health, success and the Tunisian nation dignity and progress.

After the victory of Tunisian revolution in July 14, 2011, Iran and Tunisia made efforts to increase their cooperation and bolster their bilateral relations in different fields.

In August 2012, Iranian and Tunisian presidents in a meeting in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, discussed the latest developments in the region and the Muslim world, specially in Syria.

President Ahmadinejad and President Muhammad Mocef Marzouki discussed bilateral ties, unity among Islamic world nations in defending Muslims and their sanctities as well as issue of Syria.
