Iranian Top Diplomat Views Trade Ties as Ground for Mutual Cooperation with Cyprus

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in a meeting with Cypriot Ambassador to Tehran Andreas Ignatiou urged further development of Tehran-Nicosia ties in different areas, and described trade relations as good ground for mutual cooperation between the two country.
During the meeting in Tehran on Wednesday, Zarif thanked the diplomat for his successful services, which led to expansion of Tehran-Nicosia relations during his tenure.

He said mutual capacities in the trade and economic sector serve as a ground for the expansion of mutual cooperation.

Ignatiou, for his part, appreciated the Iranian Foreign Ministry for support during his tenure.

Iran and Cyprus have expanded their relations in recent years.

Former Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi visited Larnaca in 2012.

During the trip, the Iranian foreign minister met senior Cypriot officials to discuss promotion of bilateral ties and mutual cooperation.
