Iranian VP: US Concerned about Friendly Ties between Tehran, Beirut

Iranian First Vice-President Mohammad Reza Rahimi lambasted Washington for its interference in the bilateral relations between Tehran and Beirut, and said the US is concerned about the two states’ amicable ties.

Rahimi criticized the US interference in Tehran-Beirut bilateral relations and reiterated that Washington is very concerned about the existing friendly ties between the two friendly nations.

He made the remark in a meeting with a number of Lebanese political and religious figures in Beirut on Thursday.

According to reports, a US official has arrived in Beirut and called on Lebanese authorities not to sign any agreement with the Iranian side and instead join the anti-Iran unilateral and illegal sanctions.

Rahimi criticized the US interference in Tehran-Beirut bilateral relations, and reiterated that Washington is very concerned over the existing amicable ties between the two friendly nations.

He urged Washington to help reconstruct those installations and sites destroyed by the Zionist regime and with the support of its government in the region.

Rahimi said his visit is taking place at the official invitation of senior Lebanese officials and is in line with exchange of visits between the two countries delegations.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is determined to construct dams and revive the country’s agriculture eradicated by the Zionist regime, he noted.

Rahimi arrived in the Lebanese capital of Beirut on Wednesday morning for a two-day visit.

Ahead of his departure, Rahimi told reporters Tehran has “very good” relations with all political groups and fronts in Lebanon.

He said that the two sides have signed 32 agreements, adding that Beirut enjoys a special position among Arab countries in the region.
