Iranian Youth Plan to Rally in Support of Bahraini, Palestinian Prisoners

The Iranian youth plan to stage a demonstration and fast in support of the hunger-striking Bahraini and Palestinian prisoners.

Students and staff from the University students union and the Association of the Islamic seminary will be fasting on Monday April 23, as the day of solidarity with prisoners who are on hunger strike. They will also be gathering outside the United Nations office in Tehran.

The associations have requested everyone to go on political fasting and gather outside the office of the United Nation to protest at the world body’s silence on this issue. It is to be said that on this day many people from different cities around the world will be demonstrating too.

The following is the full statement released by these organizations:

The oppressive and unjust rulers, whether in the name of Islam or otherwise, do not have what it takes to stand up against the strong humanitarian desires (of the people). Maybe it is written by God that when (want of) full stomachs and the worship of lust is turned into the want for humanitarian values, men and women who have strong will come to the field, not for their own freedoms, but to be a hand in achieving freedom for humanity.

We congratulate such steadfast determination that has brought disbelief and hypocrisy to its knees. Khadar Adnan, the resistor who did not touch food for 67 days in the prison of the Zionist regime convoyed the spirit of resistance to lioness Hina Shalbi and resulted in tens of days of her hunger strike. Both of these resistors have now been freed and as a result of their resistance 1600 Palestinian prisoners have also started a collective hunger strike however, it was
not limited to just this, it went beyond the borders of the infidels and latched onto the collars of the hypocrites and showed itself in the presence of Abdul Hadi al-Khawaja in the prisons of Bahrain.

Today, after two months of hunger strike by Khawaja, much of the world has woken up to the desecration of human rights in Bahrain and with such a small existence, no reaction is yet to be seen from the government of Bahrain. Just like the torturing of prisoners in the prisons of the Zionist regime has turned into a nightmare for the Zionists, the mistreatment of Khawaja will also blow in the face of the scandalous Al-Khalifa.

The defense of Human Rights does not recognize any geographical boundaries or religious sects; hence we, the Associations of the people and the Associations of the university students and also the Islamic Seminary, have decided to fast in support of all the prisoners who have been captured for the sake of defending their freedom, and hence we declare Sunday as “The day of solidarity with the
prisoners who are on hunger strike.”

Also, in coordination with the fast which is being done in the hope of freeing the prisoners, we will be demonstrating outside the United Nations office in Tehran to protest at their silence and blindness regarding this desecration of human rights and oppression at 5pm.
