Iran’s 17th Int’l Qur’an Exhibition kicks off

Mohammad-Ali-Khajepiri

Iran has opened its 17th edition of the International Qur’an Exhibition at Tehran’s prayer ground 6 days before the holy month of Ramadan.

The annual event will be held from Aug. 16 to Sep. 14, 2009, presenting over 15,000 books from Iran and other countries. However, only part of the books will be on sale.

Officials say the exhibition has been mounted 6 days before Ramadan to make it easier for foreign visitors and those coming from other cities to visit the exhibition.

“You can visit the exhibition website in Persian, English and Arabic at www.qia.ir,” Tehran Times quoted director of the event Mohammad-Ali Khajepiri as saying.

“Almost all Iranian universities and 60 software companies will participate in the event, along with Iranian and foreign Qur’an reciters” he added.

According to Khajepiri, children will be able to attend Qur’an recitation and memorization sessions and Qur’an researchers will be honored at the event’s opening and closing ceremonies.
