Iran’s 1st envoy to Bolivia meets Morales

Iran’s first Ambassador to Bolivia, Ale Reza Qezili, has met with and submitted his credentials to President Evo Morales.

The Iranian envoy submitted his credentials to the Bolivian president at the Quemado presidential palace in La Paz on Monday, IRIB reported.

Qezili and President Morales also held a meeting to discuss bilateral cooperation and relations between the two countries.

The Islamic Republic enjoys growing relations with Latin American countries, including Venezuela, Ecuador, Brazil and Bolivia.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad last visited Bolivia during his three-nation tour of Latin America in November 2009.

Bolivia has been a vocal supporter of Iran’s pursuit of nuclear energy.

Iran’s soaring popularity in Latin America has dismayed the United States which has been trying to isolate Tehran over its nuclear program. Washington considers Latin America as its “strategic backyard.”
