Iran’s 1st Petchem park operational soon

Iran will launch its first petrochemical park with the cooperation of a French company by the end of the current Iranian year (started March 21), an Iranian official says.
Hassan-Ali Pakravan head of Iran’s Jam Petrochemical Complex said the butane-1 unit of the complex, which has had 90-percent physical progress, will come on stream in February, Mehr news agency reported on Monday.

The unit, which is under the license of Excenz Company of France, is to produce 100,000 tons of petrochemicals per annum, Pakravan said.

The official further said that the French company has fulfilled its commitment in launching, guaranteeing and providing equipment for the Jam Petrochemical project.

He put the cost of the country’s first petrochemical park at 77 million euros, and added that with the launch of all petrochemical units of the complex the output capacity of petrochemicals will increase by 3 million tons annually.

Pakravan also said that with the participation of Italian firms (Eni and Tecknimont) construction of two new petrochemical parks in the complex, which is located in Assalouyeh, Bushehr province, will start in the near future.

With the annual production capacity of 1.320 million tons of ethylene, Jam Petrochemical Complex is the world’s biggest olefin unit, the official further said.

Iran is the second biggest petrochemical producer and exporter in the Middle East after Saudi Arabia.
