Iran’s Parliament speaker highlighted Iran’s role in fight against ISIL, saying that Iran’s involvement in the region and combat against ISIL has diminished the strife in the region.

Iran’s Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani, while stressing the need for Iran’s involvement in the region, said the country’s acts against ISIL have diminished the strife in the region.

Larijani made the remarks in a meeting with his Kuwaiti counterpart Marzouq Al-Ghanim, during which they acknowledged that both countries enjoyed long and fruitful history of parliamentary relations, something which paves the way to further promote ties between the two countries.

Pointing to the lack of balance between Iran-Kuwait economic and political, inter-parliamentarian ties, Larijani stressed the need to enhance trade relations between the two countries in line with the political one.

Emphasizing Iran’s peaceful intentions over its nuclear activity, Larijani stressed the need for adopting a way to prevent Western media from spreading panic among countries over Iran’s nuclear program.

He reiterated Iran’s key role and position in the region, saying that ISIL could have been a major problem jeopardizing the stability of all regional nations, in case Iran did not intervene in this regard.

Larijani arrived in Kuwait on Monday at the invitation of his Kuwaiti counterpart Marzouq al-Ghanim. During his two-day visit, he held talks with the country’s senior officials including his Kuwaiti counterpart Marzouq Al-Ghanim, Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and discussed issues of mutual interests as well as key regional and international developments.

In the second leg of his regional tour, Ali Larijani, accompanied by a parliamentary delegation, left Kuwait for Qatar on Wednesday.

He is scheduled to hold meetings with high-ranking officials in Qatar and discuss major regional developments.
