Iran’s Basij Commander: Terrorists Spray Chemicals on Syrians to Provide Excuse for US Military Strike

Basij Commander

Commander of Iran’s Basij (volunteer) Force Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Naqdi condemned the chemical attack which killed scores of innocent people in Syria, and said militants conducted the attack to provide the US a ground for military strike on the Muslim country.

“Today, the US-backed terrorists in Syria kill the people from different tribes even the children by chemical weapons to provide an excuse for the US aggression,” General Naqdi said Wednesday.

He recalled the everyday killing of students and children by bomb explosions in Iraq, and said, “Today the US drones kill children while they are asleep and this is today’s reality because the levers of powers are in the hands of the Satan and wild wolves.”

“The enemies bully because they have the superior power, and they destroy the infrastructures and massacre people on fake accusations because with the same superior knowledge, they have the most powerful media tools and they can disseminate any lie that they want in the world,” Brigadier General Naqdi said.

The Basij commander pointed to the heinous crimes of foreign-backed terrorists in Syria and the release of the films of their crimes (on Internet) for intimidating the people, cautioned that if those who are really humans do not gain access to superior tools, means, knowledge and power, the present problems will continue.

On Saturday, US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel claimed that the White House is studying different military options against Syria.

Hagel suggested the Pentagon is moving forces into place ahead of possible military action against Syria, even as President Barack Obama voiced caution.

On the same day, a senior Iranian lawmaker reiterated that the US is trying to repeat the Iraq scenario in Syria.

The US invaded Iraq in 2003 on the same excuse that former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein had stockpiled Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) in the Arab country, but they found nothing there.

“The Americans are trying to exercise the same scenario in Syria that they implemented 10 years ago in Iraq, where they could not find even one kilogram of chemicals…,” member of the parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Mohammad Hassan Asafari said.

He said the chemical weapons accusations leveled against the Syrian government are not worth and only meant to provide an excuse for a military intervention in the Muslim country.

The prominent legislator stressed that since the Syrian army has gained remarkable victories over the armed rebels and pushed them out of the Muslim country’s strategic cities, including Damascus and Homs, and also due to the fact that the West, specially the US, could not achieve its goals in Syria, they are trying to launch a military strike against the Syrian government and nation by involving the NATO.
