Iran’s President-Elect Vows to Improve Ties with Friendly States

13920403000293_PhotoIIran’s President-Elect Hassan Rouhani underlined Tehran’s policy for having good relations with all friendly states, and said his government will make more efforts to promote ties with the world nations.
Expansion of mutual cooperation with friendly countries have always been a priority in his foreign policy, Rouhani said in response to the congratulatory messages of Tunisian President Moncef Marzouki, Italian President Giorgio Napolitanos, Brazilian President Dilma Vana Rousseff, Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir, and Turkmenistan’s President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov.

Iran’s Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar announced Saturday evening June 15 that from a total number of 36,704,156 ballots cast in Iran’s 11th presidential election on Friday June 14, Rouhani won 18,613,329 votes.

The Interior Ministry’s election headquarters said turnout among the electorate was 72.7 percent.
