Iran’s FM in Cairo for talks with Egyptian, Arab figures

Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi is in Cairo for talks with Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi to discuss ways to enhance bilateral ties between the two Muslim nations.

Salehi arrived in the Egyptian capital on Wednesday night and is expected to convey a message from Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to Morsi.

The Iranian official is also scheduled to meet with UN-Arab League special envoy to Syria Lakhdar Brahimi and Arab League Secretary General Nabil al-Arabi.

The talks will mainly focus on the latest developments in the region, including the Syrian crisis.

Salehi’s visit to Egypt comes on the fourth leg of his African tour which has already taken him to Burkina Faso, Ghana and Benin.
