NIORDC deputy head has announced that Iranian gasoline reserves have exceeded 1.4 billion liters.

Deputy Head of National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) Shahrokh Khosravani said gasoline reserves of the country have climbed from 600 million liters per year in 2014 to 1.4 billion liters in the current year.

The official reiterated that the volume of Iran’s gasoline reserves was only 600 million liters last year in September while it has currently increased by 800 million liters reaching 1.4 billion liters.

He emphasized that the rise in gasoline imports over the previous year was mainly due to prolonged process of overhaul in Shazand Refinery as well as the planning to boost reserves rather than increased consumption.

Khosravani touched upon gasoline imports in the current year noting “over the past 160 days, a daily average of 12 million liters of gasoline were imported all of which has been stored in inventories and pipelines.

NIORDC deputy head also underscored that increased imports would not lead to escalated consumption concluding “in the second half of the current Iranian calendar year, Iran’s average gasoline imports will stand at six to seven million liters a day.”
