Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad felicitated the advent of the Persian New Year, and stressed that the Nowrouz international celebrations provide a chance for stronger solidarity among nations.

Nowrouz is a suitable opportunity to renew friendship and broaden cooperation and solidarity among nations, Ahmadinejad said, addressing the fourth Nowrouz international celebrations in Turkmenistan’s capital city of Ashgabat on Thursday.

Nowrouz manifests the rebirth of nature, the Iranian president stated.

Nowrouz, which coincides with the first day of spring on the solar calendar, is mostly celebrated in Iran, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, India, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Pakistan, Turkey and Uzbekistan.

The International Day of Nowrouz was registered on the UNESCO List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity on February 23, 2010.

The Iranian president further said that the real spring will put an end to war mongering, narrow gap between nations and remove obstacles on the way of their progress.

He also thanked the Turkmen president, government and nation for holding the globally recognized event.

Elsewhere, President Ahmadinejad said arrogant powers will finally give in to justice and freedom-seeking spirit of nations.

Arrogant powers try to attain their sinister goals through promotion of poverty and insecurity, President Ahmadinejad reiterated.
