Iran’s progress due to its commitment to martyrs’ ideals

Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Ahmad Khatami, a member of the Assembly of Experts and the temporary Friday prayer leader of Tehran, spoke at the Martyrs Memorial in the town of Nimvar, Markazi province, saying that keeping the memory of the martyrs alive is one of the most important aims of the memorial, said: “Remembering the martyrs, instilled fresh blood into Iranian society and brought joy to the people.”

His Eminence explained that the martyrs gave their blood until its last drop and did not abandon the Supreme Leader [Imam Khomeini]. “Today, our country also faces critical conditions and until our last breath, we must not abandon our duties to the Supreme Leader [Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei],” he explained.

Ayatollah Khatami added that the authority power of the Islamic Republic of Iran, commitment to the sacred ideals of Islam and the Islamic Revolution and guardianship of the jurisprudent, and the acceptance of this sacred system by the Iranian people is derived from the blood of the martyrs.

Stating that the martyrs were educated by the school of Lady Fatimah az-Zahra (S), the daughter of the Prophet Muhammad (S), Ayatollah Khatami stated that the support of guardianship originated in the teachings of this noble lady. He added that role of martyrs in Iranian society is based on an axis of unity, solidarity, empathy and devotion and the involvement of the youth in the commemoration of memorial ceremonies shows that they remain steadfast on the path of the martyrs.

“Today, we are in need of the martyrs and their ideals and nothing is better than holding these ceremonies as they increase the value of our identity,” the renowned scholar stated, adding that The successful youth of this country “happily take Lady Fatimah (S) as their role model while fighting on the path of truth against falsehood.”

The temporary Friday prayer leader expressed that the martyrs’ families will be given the blessings of paradise due to their sacrifices and added that during the 8-year-long Imposed War [Iran-Iraq War], the brave Iranian people were tested and proved their honesty and loyalty to Islam and to the system of guardianship.

Ayatollah Khatami concluded by stating that the reward of commemorating the martyrs and their martyrdom is not something small and insignificant and these ceremonies carry a cultural weight which indicates the lofty position of the martyrs.
