Iran’s Proposal against Violence, Radicalism Approved by UN

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s proposal on fighting violence and extremism was approved by members of the UN General Assembly.

President Rouhani had presented the proposal in September when he attended the UN General Assembly meeting in New York.

During the Wednesday morning session of the UN body, Iran’s Permanent Representative and Ambassador to the UN Mohammad Khazayee elaborated on the contents of the proposal.

Following his remarks, many ambassadors and representatives of the UN member countries delivered speeches in support of the proposals and called for its approval it as a practical way to confront violence and radicalism in the world.

The United Nations overwhelmingly voted on Wednesday to adopt the Iran-proposed resolution that called for denouncing violence and extremism.

After its approval, Khazayee said the message of approving this resolution is that Iran is country which seeks justice and peace.
