Iran’s “Runna” in int’l markets soon

Second locally-made car of Iran’s largest state-run carmaker (IKCO) is to hit Iran and international markets in May.

IKCO Deputy CEO for Strategy and Planning, Hamid Reza Taghavinejad said, “We have planned to produce 50 thousand sets of Runna sedans in 2012 and this figure can run up to 200 thousand in a year.”

This sedan is going to be powered by TU5 and EF7 engines that meet Euro IV standard requirements. The car would be available with diesel engines later on.

IKCO Runna enjoys front seat airbags and ABS and meets the required safety standards for driver and passengers, covering the European pedestrian impact safety standard as long as the standard has been instituted and introduced in Europe.

The car can also gain three star rating by Euro NCAP. Beside Iran market, the Middle East, Russia, Turkey, Africa and South American countries have been targeted by IKCO Runna.

Iranian part makers are also supposed to mass-produce the required parts and components for this car at the highest possible quality.

IKCO Runna has already gone through the first pre-production phase and has passed 80 percent of related tests successfully. The second pre-production phase will begin late January and it will be mass-produced in May.

The daily production of IKCO Runna would be 200 sets for this year that would chalk up to 500 by 2013.
