Iraq blasts kill nearly 30, injure over 100 by U.S, Israel-backed attacks

Nearly 30 people have been killed and more than 100 others wounded in a series of bomb attacks across Iraq, security officials say.

Police said on Sunday that three car bomb blasts killed 15 people and wounded 60 in Mahmudiya, a town 30 kilometers (18.6 miles) south of the capital city of Baghdad.

Two other explosions killed five people and wounded 14 in a crowded market in Madaen, a town 30 kilometers (18.6 miles) southeast of the capital.

In the central city of Najaf, four people were killed and 28 others wounded in bombing attacks.

Najaf is the site of the mausoleum of the third Shia Imam Ali (PBUH), which gather Muslims from all around the world.

Elsewhere, two other attacks in the eastern Diyala province killed five people and injured three others, local police said.

No one has so far claimed responsibility for the attacks and investigations are underway.

Bombing attacks are common in Iraq, especially in the area south of Baghdad.

Official figures show that at least 237 people were killed and 603 wounded in attacks last month.
