At least 20 ISIL Takfiri terrorists have been killed and dozens injured when Iraqi border guards thwarted an attempt by the militants to infiltrate into the western province of Anbar.
According to the media reports, the Takfiris were trying to enter the town of al-Waleed, situated on the Syrian border and located approximately 550 km west of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, on Monday.
The Iraqi guards confronted and killed twenty of the infiltrators, while scores of others sustained injuries. Sixteen Iraqi border guards were also killed during the incident.
Separately, Iraqi security forces killed four terrorists, among them a sniper, during an operation in the Sijariya neighborhood in eastern Ramadi, located about 110 kilometers (68 miles) west of Baghdad.
