Iraq Waqf Office stresses Muslim unity

Shia, Sunni heads of Iraq’s Office of Waqf held a joint meeting and vowed to spare no effort for handling the recent sectarian intrigues in the country, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

Religious heads called the leaders of different denominations to attend unity meeting to be held in Baghdad in a bid to discuss the political crisis in Iraq.

Abd-al-Ghafur al-Samarra’i, head of the Sunni Waqf Office demanded all groups and political parties to prevent any bloodshed in Iraq warning that those who spill the blood of the people have to stand responsible for that in front of God, history and the nation.

Saleh Al-Heidari, head of the Shia Waqf Office said,” The religious jurisprudent in Najaf demands all Iraqi nationals to maintain their unity and avoid domestic conflicts.” and stressed the importance of preventing religious intrigues.

Several terrorist attacks across Iraq have left dozens dead and many injured.
