A poll on the 10-year anniversary of anti-Iraq war marches in London in February 2003 finds that most Britons think the Iraq war brought “little but bloodshed”.

A Guardian/ICM poll revealed 55 percent of the British agreed with suggestions that “the London marchers were right”, because “a war sold on a false prospectus delivered little but bloodshed”.

However, 28 percent believed the protest were wrong, saying toppling of Iraq’s dictator Saddam Hussein made the world a better place.

This comes as British MPs also used the occassion to call on the government to fulfill its promise and give the parliament the right to stop any future decision on taking Britain into an armed conflict.

In February 2003, more than thirty million people marched globally against the warmongering policies of Britain and the US, expressing their opposition to the then imminent war on Iraq.

At the time, the Stop the War Coalition organized a protest that brought some one million people on the streets of London.
