Al-Nusra Centers Hit Hard in Syrian Airstrikes near Border with Lebanon

The Syrian Air Force carried out several combat flights over the positions of Al-Nusra Front (recently renamed to Fatah al-Sham Front) at Syria’s border with Lebanon, inflicting a number of casualties on the terrorists, media sources said.

The warplanes bombed heavily the positions of Al-Nusra Front near the Lebanese-Syrian border, a security source told the Lebanese LBCI television, adding the fighter jets targeted terrorists’ centers in Syria’s Western Qalamoun region near the Lebanese border.

A number of terrorists were killed or wounded in the air raids, according to the report.

In the meantime, Al-Mayadeen television reported that the fighter jets bombed militant posts in the outskirts of the Lebanese border town of Arsal.

In January, the Lebanese Army Intelligence Directorate announced that members of a terrorist cell linked to Al-Nusra were arrested and referred to Lebanese judiciary officials.

The Intelligence body said in a communiqué that members of the terror ring were arrested in Tripoli and were linked to Shadi Mawlawi, a commander of Fatah al-Sham front who is still at large inside the Palestinian refugee camp of Ain-el-Hilwa, Al Manar reported.

The ring, which includes 11 members, was planning to dispatch booby-trapped cars to the southern suburbs of Beirut (Dahiyeh), in addition to killing civilians and military officers, at the behest of Mawlawi.

Following interrogations of the arrested terrorists, the army raided several places in Tripoli and seized explosive devices, belts, and munitions.
