Iraqi border guards cut off terrorists’ supply and funding routes

20140113-115447_h522029The Iraqi authorities announced that Iraqi border guards are working for cutting off the supply and funding routes of the so-called the Islamic States of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS) linked to al-Qaeda, through monitoring the Syrian borders.

” The border guards are working for cutting off the supply and funding routes of the so-called the ISIS, ” Iraqi Interior Ministry Spokesman Brigadier General, Saad Ma’en said in a statement on Sunday.

He pointed that 12 smugglers who are cooperating with ISIS were arrested during clashes.

The Minister said that Salah Eddin Province Police arrested 2 terrorists and dismantled 2 explosive devices to the north of Tikrit city.

Al-Jazeera and Al-Badia Operations Command arrested 14 terrorists and seized 8 cars were used by terrorists to the west of al-Mosel.

Earlier, Iraqi al-Sabah newspaper reiterated the continuation of the military operations led by the Iraqi army and the tribes in al-Anbar against ISIS members.

Al-Maliki: People seek consistent Iraq

Iraqi Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, stressed that the Iraqi people seek to build a consistent Iraq and not a fragmented Iraq, in a comment on a modified law on governorates that he considered as a threat to Iraq’s unity.

Al-Maliki’s comments came during the first conference for setting a roadmap for carrying out amendments of the law of the governorates which are not included in a particular province on Sunday.

“We hear voices that demand having independent policies and army in each governorate, which is illegal,” the Iraqi Premier said, stressing the importance of finding a conception that maintain Iraq’s unity.
