Iraqi F-16 jets bombard Daesh in Ramadi for first time

Iraq’s F-16 fighter jets have bombarded targets belonging to the Daesh Takfiri terrorist group in Ramadi for the first time.

“The Iraqi fighter jets have achieved their objectives with high accuracy and destroyed the strongholds of the terrorist organization, as well as killing dozens of ISIS (Daesh) elements and bombing vehicles that had been used in attacks against the security forces,” said Ibrahim al-Fahdawi, the chairman of the security committee in Khalidiya council in the western Anbar province on Sunday, the Iraqi News online newspaper reported.

Iraq’s F-16 warplanes commenced their military operations against the terror group on September 2, after obtaining the approval from the Ministry of Defense and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces.

Meanwhile, Iraqi Air Force announced that it had pounded headquarters of Daesh in Kabisa, a city in the Hīt district of the same province, killing at least nine terrorists and destroying two tanks of fuel and four of their vehicles.

In cleansing operations in the area of Baghdadi in western Anbar, Iraqi forces also managed to dismantle nine booby-trapped houses and 97 explosive devices. They also killed at least 30 terrorists in the city of Khalidiya, east of the provincial capital Ramadi. Two booby-trapped houses were also destroyed during the attack.

Moreover, 12 terrorists were slain in confrontations with the Iraqi forces in the al-Hayakil area, south of Fallujah, and in the Subaihat area, east of the strategic city.

Gruesome violence has plagued the northern and western parts of Iraq ever since Daesh Takfiris launched their offensive in Iraq, and took control of portions of the country. The militants have been committing vicious crimes against all ethnic and religious communities in Iraq, including Shias, Sunnis, Kurds, and Christians.

Army soldiers and Popular Mobilization Units have joined forces and are seeking to take back militant-held regions in joint operations.
