Iraqi Forces Win Back More Strategic Areas in Anbar Province

The Iraqi army and volunteer forces (Hashd al-Shaabi) continued their advances in Anbar by seizing back more strategic areas in Western Iraq.

The Iraqi forces took full control of Kabissa by pushing back the ISIL terrorists from the strategic region.

The Iraqi army and volunteer forces also won back half of key al-Saqlaviya region.

In a relevant development on March 17, a military source in Iraq announced the liberation of about 50% of the territory controlled by the ISIL terrorist group in the country, emphasizing that the ISIL has not made any progress since last May.

“24,000 square kilometers of the Iraqi land were liberated in Tikrit, Baiji, Ramadi, Heet and some other cities,” Iraqi News quoted the source as saying.

He noted that, “The liberated territories represent nearly 50% of the areas that were controlled by ISIL.”

Warren added, “ISIL did not achieve any victory or progress since last May.”
