A report by a group of human rights organizations says minority communities in Iraq have been targeted by ISIL Takfiri militants with the aim of wiping them off large parts of the country.

The new report, compiled jointly by a group of human rights organizations and released on Friday, details summary executions, rape and other abuses committed by ISIL militants against Iraqi minorities.

The research for this report shows very clearly that ISIL “has committed war crimes, crimes against humanity and possibly even genocide against religious and ethnic minorities in northern Iraq,” said Alison Smith, Legal Counsel of No Peace Without Justice (NPWJ), one of the organizations that contributed to the report.

“These atrocities cannot go unremarked and unaddressed,” Smith added.

The Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization (UNPO), another group involved in the report, also warned of a “looming humanitarian calamity” in Iraq in the face of ISIL violence against the Iraqi people.

Iraqi minorities face a “threat to their existence”, said another group, the Institute of International Law and Human Rights (IILHR).

The ISIL Takfiri terrorists control parts of Iraq and Syria. They have been engaged in crimes against humanity in the areas under their control.

The ISIL terrorists have threatened all communities, including Shias, Sunnis, Kurds, Christians and Izadi Kurds.

The ISIL militants have particularly targeted the Izadis. The terrorists have also kidnapped and enslaved many Izadi Kurdish women. Earlier this month, Iraq discovered a mass grave containing the remains of about two dozen members of the Izadi community in north of the country.
