Iraqi PM arrives in Tehran

Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, heading a high ranking politico-economic delegation, arrived in Tehran on Sunday to review isssues of mutual interest with senior Iranian officials.

Upon his arrival at Tehran’s Mehrabad international airport, the Iraqi premier was warmly welcomed by the IRI Energy Minister Majid Namjoo.

The recent visit to Iran of al-Maliki is indicating the strong will of the two nations for fostering all-out ties.

Iran-Iraq trade transactions hit dlrs 9.7 billion during the last Iranian year (ended March 19). The figure indicated 50 percent rise compared to the previous year, according to IRNA.

The value of the two countries trade transactions is predicted to hit dlrs 12 billion in the current Iranian calendar year.
