Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi on Sunday condemned the execution of a Japanese journalist, calling on the international community to further cooperation to defeat the ISIL terrorist group.

“We strongly condemn the cowardly and criminal act of executing the Japanese journalist that was made by the terrorist gang of Daash (ISIL). We affirm our solidarity with the Japan’s government, its friendly people and the family of the victim,” a statement by Abadi’s office said.
“This heinous crime calls on the international community to further cooperation and coordination to eliminate Daash which represents a threat to all humanity,” the statement said.
Abadi’s comments came after the ISIL purportedly released video posted on internet late on Saturday saying that it had beheaded the second Japanese hostage Kenji Goto.
Last week, ISIL claimed responsibility for beheading another Japanese hostage Haruna Yukawa, just a few days after the Takfiri group released a video showing the two Japanese hostages held by the group.
