Iraqi Popular Movement Leader: Formation of Golan Regiment No Propaganda

“The media outlets which support terrorists and the usurper Zionist regime tried to display it (al-Nujaba’s preparedness to help Syria take back Golan) as unreal and as mere words,” al-Ka’abi said in an interview with the Lebanese al-Mayadeen news channel on Sunday.

Noting that the Israeli news channels have been frightened by reports about the formation of a trained and well-equipped unit to liberate the Golan, he said, “Given the Nujaba forces’ high battlefield experience and military capabilities, formation of a corps to free Golan is not meant to serve as media maneuvering but a real objective of this resistance group.”

In relevant remarks on Wednesday, Spokesman of Hezbollah al-Nujaba Seyed Hashem al-Moussavi announced the formation of a brigade to liberate the Golan Heights from Israeli occupation.

“After the recent victories (in Syria), we have established the Golan Liberation Brigade,” al-Moussavi said.

Noting that the Golan Liberation Brigade is made up of highly-equipped and well-trained special forces, he said, “If the Syrian government requests, we are ready to take action to liberate Golan.”

Israel occupied the Golan Heights in the 1967 Six-Day War with Syria and annexed the territory in 1981. The international community has not recognized the Israeli annexation.
