Unknown gunmen abducted Secretary-General of Iraq’s powerful Hezbollah group in the capital, Baghdad, on Monday.
Abdul Rahman Abdul Zahreh al-Jazayeri, whose party’s military wing known as Al-Hashad Al-Shabi has proved to be an invincible force in the war on ISIL, was kidnapped in Karadeh region of Baghdad and taken to an unknown place, the Arabic-language Al-Furat News website reported.

“Several gunmen in military uniforms arrived at the house of the Hezbollah leader on several 4-wheel-drive vehicles in Baghdad’s Karadeh district, raided the building and abducted him,” an Iraqi security source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of his information, told the Arabic media outlet.

The Hezbollah Movement in Iraq is a very influential political party in the country that is part of the United Iraqi Alliance coalition. It is not affiliated with the Lebanese group Hezbollah or other groups using the name. The military wing of Hezbollah known as Hashd al-Shaabi, or popular forces, is currently engaged in full-fledged war against the ISIL Takfiri terrorists in Iraq’s Al-Anbar and Salahuddin provinces.

The Hashd al-Shaabi forces have driven the ISIL terrorists from many Iraqi regions. They have shot down Israeli-made spy drones belonging to the ISIL.
