Iraq’s Nujaba Urges Baghdad to Expel US Troops

Iraq’s Harakat Hezbollah al-Nujaba, a major Shiite resistance group, strongly condemned a US-led attack on the Arab country’s forces in the northern province of Kirkuk, urging the Baghdad government to expel the US troops.

The Political Council of al-Nujaba, in a statement, asked the Iraqi government and parliament to carry out their responsibilities and prepare the ground for the expulsion of “the American “aggressors” from the Iraqi land.

The statement also described the US as “the Great Satan”, saying it has persistently violated the national sovereignty of Iraq.

Al-Nujaba also emphasized that despite the claims about the advisory presence of the US in Iraq, the attack on the Iraqi police forces in Kirkuk showed that the US forces have been stationed in the country “with malice and readiness for military confrontation”.

The US-led coalition fighter jets attacked the Iraqi troops in Kirkuk, killing and injuring a number of them, sources said on Saturday.

Earlier in February, reports surfaced that Daesh leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was alive and traveling freely between neighboring Syria and Iraq under the protection of US military forces.

It came amid other reports that the US was redeploying its forces, including those in Syria, to Iraq for the long haul.

US troops have reportedly already been deployed to the western Anbar province and eastern city of Kirkuk, prompting Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) to step up measures against their presence.
