Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari offered his congratulations to Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan over his recent success to be awarded the First-Class Order of Courage.

In a message to Dehqan released on Saturday, Major General Jafari praised the Islamic Republic’s military strategies and defense achievements, saying that they stem from the revolutionary forces’ power, commitment and expertise.

He added that the forces’ achievements have created the strategic balance of power in the region and the world.

“Granting the First-Class Order of Courage to you, is to the delight and pleasure of comrades in arms, friends and all those who are familiar with your brilliant and revolutionary records,” the IRGC commander stated.

In separate messages to the defense minister, a number of other high-ranking military officials congratulated him on the achievement.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani granted Brigadier General Dehqan the First-Class Order of Courage in a ceremony held earlier on February 8 to commemorate the families of the Iranian nuclear scientists that have been martyred and the officials and staff who had a role in a long process of negotiations that led to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), a lasting nuclear deal between Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany).

Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif was given the First-Class Order of Merit and Management, while Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi and Brigadier General Dehqan were awarded the First-Class Order of Courage.

The president also gave awards to the families of the martyred nuclear scientists.
