Lieutenant Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Brigadier General Hossein Salami underlined that Iran is the most secure country in the region due to its powerful defensive and military force despite all the insecurities caused by the presence of the trans-regional states in the Persian Gulf.

“Iran is the island of stability and security in the region,” General Salami said in the Southern city of Abadan on Thursday night, addressing joint military drills by the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) and the country’s Law Enforcement Forces.

In relevant remarks on Sunday, Commander of Khatam ol-Anbia Air Defense Base Brigadier General Farzad Esmayeeli said his unit has bolstered ground-based air defenses against possible future threats from at least 3600 to 5,000 stations.

He said the plan is to increase the number of new radar stations and upgrade the existing systems to 5,000 in the coming year.

“The radars have been designed in different frequencies and with jump frequency, and also in (special) bands which cannot be heard by the enemies,” he added.

Iran enjoys a highly powerful and integrated air defense system equipped with the state-of-the-art technology. Last September, the country unveiled new home-made radar systems capable of detecting radar-evading targets in any electronic warfare.

The long-range and high-precision radar systems are also capable of detecting targets in low radar cross section, resistant to radar-evading and anti-radar missiles. Many radar systems have been mounted in the mountainous and plain regions in Southeastern Iran.

According to Commander Esmayeeli, the multi-range radars can also detect wide-body and stealth targets as well as small planes, including drones, in long distances before they can even approach the Iranian airspace.
