IRGC drills send message of peace

Iran says its ongoing military maneuver in the Persian Gulf displays Tehran’s capability in countering insecurity and disruption of order in the region.

“This war game is actually a demonstration of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s capacities in maintaining regional security and preventing the disruption of order in the Persian Gulf,” Fars News Agency quoted head of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili as saying.

After visiting the site of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) drill, Jalili told reporters on Friday that the main message conveyed by the military exercise to neighboring countries was one of security, peace and friendship.

“The presence of our friends in parts of this drill can show them how Iran can utilize its military capacity to help the stability and security of the region,” the top Iranian diplomat said referring to the participation of delegates from neighboring countries in the drill.

“The security of the Persian Gulf should be maintained by regional countries because we can maintain security and counter the disruption of order,” Jalili stressed.

Starting on the 31st anniversary of the formation of the IRGC, the three day ‘The Great Prophet V’ drills have seen the unveiling of a number of homemade equipment, including military drones and the Ya Mahdi rocket-carrying vessels.
