IRGC Official: “Death to US” Slogan Unchangeable

“Death to US” will remain Iranian’s main slogan and it will not fade away, Supreme Leader’s representative at the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ali Saeedi said on the threshold of the anniversary of the US embassy takeover.
“The ‘Death to US’ slogan cannot be discarded,” Saeedi said Saturday on the threshold of November 4, the anniversary of the US embassy takeover in Tehran.

November 4 marks three important events in Iranian history: the takeover of the former US embassy in Tehran by Muslim students following the Imam’s line in 1979 and the exile of the late Founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini by the Shah in 1964. It also marks the massacre of a large number of Iranian school students by the army of the former Pahlavi regime during the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Since the 1979 takeover of the US embassy in Tehran, Iranians have been celebrating the occasion every year by holding rallies on the anniversary and marking it as the National Day against the ‘Global Arrogance’.

Saeedi also referred to Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei’s recent remarks on Iran’s new tactic (labeled as “Heroic Flexibility”) for dealing with the US following the ascending to power of President Hassan Rouhani, and said, “The Supreme Leader asked related officials to go ahead on the basis of heroic flexibility, but lies and deceit by the US and its proxies came in response.”

In September, Ayatollah Khamenei underlined his support for correct and logical moves on the scenes of foreign and domestic policy.

“I agree with the issue that I called some years ago as heroic flexibility since this move is highly good and necessary on certain occasions, but with commitment to one main condition,” Ayatollah Khamenei said, addressing high-ranking commanders and veterans of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) in Tehran.

Elsewhere, Saeedi referred to the numerous crimes committed by the Salafi Islam originating from Sunni Wahhabism of Saudi Arabia as well as the practice of Secularist Islam in Turkey, and said, “The Islamic government in Iran has risen against these two (misconceptions of Islam) under the name of pure Islam which is Shiism, and is seen as a big threat to the world of arrogance.”
