IRI, Cuba examine ways of further coop.

Iran-Cuba-coopThe 14th session of IRI-Cuba joint commission on trade and economy was held in Cuban capital, Havana.

Iranian delegation headed by IRI Minister of Industries and Mines discussed ways to promote cooperation in all fields.

Ali Akbar Mehrabian pointed to Iran’s industrial advancements and expressed both state and private sectors readiness to assist Cuba in the fields of industry and trade.

Engineering and technical services as well as transferring technology are major services provided by Iran.

Mehrabian spoke of setting up four committees, one to examine the possibility of Iran’s setting up small factories in Cuba as well as a trade committee to exchange products between the two countries. The other two committees are insurance-banking committee as well as a scientific, medical and agricultural committee.

Cuban minister of transportation expressed satisfaction with Iran’s scientific and industrial presence in Cuba and said Iran could benefit from Cuba as a center to export its products to all countries in the region.

Iran’s export to Cuba is estimated at 30 million dollars. The number is expected to rise as a result of more economic cooperation between the two countries.
