IRI, Malaysia call for expansion of ties

Mottaki-AmanIRI’s Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki conferred with his Malaysian counterpart Anifah Aman Monday afternoon in Kuala Lumpur on fostering bilateral cooperation in all arenas.

The two foreign ministers held meeting on the sidelines of the 12th ministerial meeting of the D8 group in the Malaysian capital city.

The two sides also held talks on the issues of mutual interests, economic affairs and the situation of the world of Islam as well as the latest developments in the two countries of Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Malaysian minister said during the talks that the Islamic Republic of Iran is a friendly state to his country.

Aman added Kuala Lumpur wants to strengthen cooperation with Tehran and the Malaysian investors are willing to participate in the trade and economic projects in Iran.

Later in the meeting, Iran’s foreign minister told reporters the two countries have reached agreements on implementation of joint ventures in various fields, particularly in the oil sector, in third countries.

Mottaki said the bright future is foreseen for Iran-Malaysia cooperation, so he called for further fostering of the current bilateral relations.
