IRI scientists produce 2 new medical isotopes

Iranian nuclear scientists managed to produce two new medical isotopes which can be used in the treatment of malignant cancer, spokesman of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran told Fars News Agency Sunday.

Lutesium EDTMP-177, one of the two medical isotopes has been considered among the most popular medical isotopes in cancer treatment, Hamid Khadem Qa’aemi said.

Iodine 131- Chlorotoxin is the other isotope, according the spokesman who added that at present few countries have managed to produce the isotopes.
