The Syrian Army and its allies ambushed ISIL terrorists in the Eastern part of Hama province, killing a number of them and destroying their ammunition, a field source said on Thursday.

According to the source, the ambush resulted in the destruction of a truck loaded with weapons and ammunition intended to be sent to ISIL terrorists in al-Sheikh Hilal village in Hama’s Eastern regions and the killing of several terrorists.

“The Syrian army soldiers who were tipped off by intelligence agents managed to ambush the vehicle fully laden with mines and artillery shells in Hama province and killed all militants escorting the cargo,” the military sources added.

Yesterday, the Syrian Army and the National Defense Forces (NDF) thwarted the al-Nusra Front’s attempts to prevail over the government forces’ lines of defense in the Southern battlefields in Hama province.

The al-Qaeda-affiliated al-Nusra Front’s militants attacked the government forces’ positions in the outskirts of Arrnailyah and Zur Hanifa and temporary seized three military outposts, but the government forces regrouped and in a counter-attack pushed the terrorists back from the battlefield.

The Syrian army’s 4th Division, an al-Baath Battalion and many soldiers of the NDF restored control over the outposts.
