The Syrian Democratic Forces’ (SDF) anti-terrorism operations, launched late in May, have thus far pushed the ISIL out of at least 100 villages and their surrounding areas in Manbij region, Kurdish sources said.

“At least 100 villages have thus far been liberated in the SDF fighters’ offensives on the ISIL strongholds near the town of Manbij,” the sources said, adding, “The SDF fighters, who have laid a complete siege on Manbij, are resolved to access the strategic road of al-Bab-al-Rai.”

“The SDF fighters have deployed forces to newly-captured positions 16km to the West of Manbij and the small town of Qabasin in the Southeastern side of Manbij,” they went on to say.

In relevant developments in the province on Saturday, the SDF, in a fresh round of clashes on Saturday, drove the ISIL terrorists back form one more strategic village in the Western side of the town of Manbij, inflicting a heavy death toll on the militants.

The SDF fighters’ offensives on the ISIL along Manbij-Aleppo road claimed the lives of at least 18 militants and forced the remaining pockets of the group to retreat from the village of Owseh Jeli.

The ISIL military equipment also sustained major damage in the attacks.
