ISIL Withdraws from More Positions under Heavy Attacks of Syrian Army in Eastern Homs

The Syrian army troops continued to strike ISIL’s defense lines in Eastern Homs and managed to capture more lands in Syria’s Badiyeh (desert) en route to Deir Ezzur.

The army soldiers engaged in heavy fighting with ISIL terrorists along the road that connects al-Heil oilfield to the town of al-Sukhnah and imposed control over several heights overlooking the Northern and Eastern sides of the third power plant East of Palmyra city.

Also, the Russian Air Force carried out several combat flights over ISIL’s positions and targeted their command centers and arms and ammunition depots in al-Sukhnah.

A military source said that a large number of ISIL militants were killed in the operation.

A field commander reported earlier today that the army troops deployed less than 10km away from the last bastion of the militants en route to Deir Ezzur.

The commander in Eastern Homs Operation Room said that the army has increased its advances against ISIL towards the town of al-Sukhnah and managed to capture several more positions.

The commander said that the army men are less than 10km away from the town of al-Sukhnah that is considered as the last stronghold of ISIL in Eastern Homs and a gate to the Eastern city of Deir Ezzur.

In the meantime, the Syrian Air Force pounded ISIL’s positions in the depth of al-Sukhnah and Humeimeh al-Kadir to accelerate the ground forces’ advances in the region, inflicting major losses on the terrorists.
