ISIS-held west Qalamoun pocket shrinks by 50 percent – Map update

In just over one week of offensive operations between the Syrian Arab Army (SAA), Hezbollah and the Lebanese Army against pocketed ISIS forces along the Syrian-Lebanese border region, the area controlled by the terrorist group has retracted significantly. On the Syrian side of the border – in the country’s western Qalamoun region – more specifically, the Islamic State’s original area of control has been reduced by virtually half.

Today, SAA and Hezbollah accomplished another series of key advances in the western Qalamoun region securing the heights of Beit Badran and Ajloun Al-Kabeer as well as scores of other smaller hilltops surrounding them.

Meanwhile the Lebanese Army also managed to advance on its side of the border, securing from ISIS the height of Al-Kaf.
