ISIS Holding on for Dear Life in Al-Hasakah City

Each day, the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham’s (ISIS) presence in the provincial capital of the Al-Hasakah Governorate shrinks; this has been due in large part to their failed attempts to capture the Syrian Armed Forces’ defensive positions, all the while, the predominately Kurdish “People’s Protection Units” (YPG) encircle them from outside the city walls.

On Thursday morning, things did not get better for ISIS, as the Syrian Arab Army’s 123rd Brigade of the 3rd Armored Division – in coordination with the Gozarto Protection Forces (Assyrian militias), the National Defense Forces (NDF), and the Al-Ba’ath Battalions pushed further south towards the Panorama Roundabout, killing a confirmed 22 enemy combatants from the terrorist group.

The terrorist group is surrounded by the Syrian Armed Forces to the north and the YPG to the south at the Panorama Roundabout; if they cannot fight their way out of this area or receive reinforcements soon, then the ISIS militants are left with two choices: surrender or die.

Meanwhile, to the west of the Al-Zuhour Quarter, the YPG continued their powerful assault on ISIS’ positions in the west district of Al-Hasakah City, killing another two dozen enemy combatants, while capturing a small arms depot nearby.

South of the west district, the Syrian Armed Forces took complete control of the Al-Shari’ah District after fierce clashes with ISIS on Thursday afternoon.
