ISIS offensive in Deir Ezzor ends in disaster, 25 terrorists killed

ISIS launched a big offensive in the eastern countryside of the Deir Ezzor Governorate this week, targeting the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) positions west of Albukamal city.

ISIS began the offensive on Thursday by storming several areas under the Syrian Army’s control in western Albukamal; this resulted in a series of intense battles that lasted for more than 24 hours.

However, despite the intensity of the ISIS attack, the Syrian Arab Army was able to beat back all the terrorist group’s attempts to infiltrate their positions in the western countryside of Albukamal.

According to a military source in Deir Ezzor, ISIS suffered more than 25 casualties as a result this offensive, with their remaining terrorists fleeing across the Euphrates River.
