Islamic awakening defy ME hegemony

Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili said the ongoing Islamic Awakening throughout the Middle East challenges arrogance and hegemony in the region.

Addressing a gathering dubbed “Islam, Resistance and Victory” in Tehran on Tuesday, Jalili said the US failure to pursue hegemony in the Middle East has forced the country to engage in hypocrisy and double standards in the region.

He added that Washington has long been supporting dictators and the Zionist regime in the Middle East.

Jalili also termed the US engagement in a ‘soft war’ campaign against Iran as a ‘major strategic mistake.’ He attributed the Islamic Republic’s might to its reliance on Islamic principles and teachings.

Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council stressed that Washington can never legitimatize the usurping and invasive nature of the Zionist regime through its full and unswerving support for Tel Aviv.

Jalili stated that Zionist regime, despite US military aids, suffered a heavy loss from Hezbollah during the 33-day war on Lebanon that killed about 1,200 Lebanese — most of them civilians.

According to the 629-page Winograd Report, Hezbollah defeated the regime in the war and Tel Aviv was compelled to withdraw without having achieved any of its objectives.
