Islamic Iran to Produce New Anti-Cancer Drug Soon

Iran announced plans to produce a new type of anti-cancer medicine, named Docetaxel, which can be used for treating lung, head, neck and breast cancers.

Iran plans to produce non-carcinogenic ‘docetaxel’ by the end of Iranian calendar year which ends on March 19, saving $40,000,000 financially.

Docetaxel is a very expensive drug used to cure lung, head and neck, and breast cancers. The medicine is said to cost 40 percent lower comparing to its foreign version.

Iran has already mass-produced Doxorubicin – another non-carcinogenic drug – used in lung and breast cancer cases and was made based on nano-liposomes technique. The drug with higher efficiency needs lower times for use and naturally lessens side effects, including vascular and heart complications.

We are the second producer of the medicine in the world and we hope the patients would face less problems after using the medication,” the deputy of Iranian food and drug organization for drug affairs said.

Iran also produced two other non-carcinogenic medicines Paclitaxel for breast and ovarian cancer and oxaliplatin for colon cancer.

Iran has taken wide strides in science and technology, particularly in medical and medicinal fields, in recent years.

Earlier, Iranian Health Minister Marziyeh Vahid Dastjerdi had announced that Iran plans to boost its capacities and capabilities in a bid to make a huge and rapid advancement in drug production by synthesizing 15 types of anti-cancer medicines.

“15 types of monoclonal anti-body drugs are being synthesized with the help of the Scientific Department of the Presidential Office, using hi-tech technology,” Vahid Dastjerdi said in September.

Also, Iranian scientists in April succeeded in producing new types of medication for treating different kinds of cancer, viral diseases and arthritis with 100% positive results.

“The medicine has been synthesized through a new and unique formula and has the capability to destroy all malignant cancerous cells,” Head of the research team Qassem Tak Dehqan told reporters at the time.
