Islamic Jihad claims responsibility for return attack on Tel Aviv

The Palestinian resistance movement of the Islamic Jihad has claimed responsibility for firing a rocket at Tel Aviv following the recent wave of Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip, which has so far claimed at least 21 lives.

“The Quds Brigades (the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad) hit the occupied city of Tel Rabea (Tel Aviv) with a…rocket causing a large explosion,” a statement from the resistance group said on Thursday, AFP reported.

The Israeli attacks have been targeting Gaza since Wednesday.

In the statement, the resistance group hinted that “greater” retaliatory attacks were being arranged.

Spokesman for the Islamic Jihad, Abu Ahmed also warned that the Tel Aviv regime would see “further surprises” as long as it keeps striking Palestinians.

“The enemy began the battle, but the resistance will determine how the battle will end,” Abu Ahmed said in a statement.

The Israeli military frequently carries out airstrikes and other attacks on the Gaza Strip, saying the acts of aggression are being conducted for defensive purposes. However, in violation of international law, disproportionate force is always used and civilians are often killed or injured.

The attacks rage on while Israel keeps up its crippling blockade on Gaza, which it imposed on the enclave in 2007.
