Islamic Republic of Iran Army capable of defending nation

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad appreciated the IRI Army on Tuesday as an adequate force to defend the nation and capable of giving a paralyzing response to any aggressors that endanger the nation’s interests or dignity.

Addressing a ceremony to mark the annual National Army Day, the president referred to the nation’s movement towards peaks of science and noted that the goal needs sustainable security the charge of which was resting on the army’s shoulders.

The president said the Persian Gulf region was highly sensitive, adding that the region’s security would be maintained only through a collective effort by the regional countries.

He said foreign forces only stir insecurity and conflict inthe region.

Following the speech, units of the army staged parades to display their defensive and military capabilities and achievements.

The country’s latest indigenous military hardware including surface-to-surface missiles, drones and air defense systems were on display during the parades in Iran’s capital, Tehran.

The occasion marks the establishment of the Islamic Republic Army.
